Intent

To empower our students to be actively involved in decisions relating to their futures

To equip learners with the independence and employability skills required to access the community and the world of work

To prepare our young people with the social skills and opportunities that reduce the risk of them becoming socially isolated into their adult lives

 

To collaborate with the young people to promote positive lifestyles, good mental and physical health, with social and emotional well-being at the core of our work

Curriculum Implementation 

Young people to be actively involved in attending their own EHCP meetings and developing action plans for their futures

The College Council to promote student voice and inclusion of rights and responsibilities of young people as core elements of the curriculum

 

Access to a range of meaningful supported and independent work experience placements, employer encounters and links to careers in every curriculum area so learners can understand the relevance of what they are being taught

Development of household skills, opportunities to access the community and supported travel training programme

Access to social enterprise to develop awareness of team work skills, communication, customer service and enterprise skills

 

Use of social enterprise as a social networking vessel that reduces potential for social isolation of our young people

Bespoke timetables where learners study independently and acquire knowledge of the subject areas that they want to pursue in the future

Introduction of Mental health on the curriculum so that learners develop a better understanding of their own mental health needs, the needs of others and what support they require

Access to a range of pastoral support, including:

  • Key person

  • Family liaison

  • Counselling

  • Supporting attendance into College

  • Supporting applications for bursaries, benefits (PIP, Universal credit etc)
